What is Periscope? It is Twitter’s new live streaming video app that has become hugely popular since its release in early 2015. Marketers from all walk of life are flocking to use the app, but very few actually know how to use it profitably. So today, I’d like to share with you on how you can use Periscope to boost your affiliate marketing income.

Choose your product

Every affiliate promotion begins with promoting one product at a time. Start off by choosing the product that you’re going to promote, then plan to create a video on it to be broadcast online. If you are promoting a physical product, you could consider doing a live product demonstration Periscope. If you are promoting a digital information product, then discuss the benefits, pros and cons that the product has. Then answer any common questions that your viewers might have.

Broadcast your Scope

For selling physical products, your live demonstration can be done from home or from other interesting or random locations in your area. Try to make the demonstration as fun and engaging as possible, and do make sure to use the product name in the title of your broadcast.

For informational products, you could also try interviewing the product creator or simply having a Q&A session where your followers can ask any questions they might have on the product. For maximum impact and benefit to your audience, be prepared to offer some specific examples of how the product will help, and show screenshots or images where possible.

Direct viewers to your site

Before broadcasting your scope, do create a regular blog post on your website focused on the product you will be promoting. As always, do include your affiliate links, and be sure to clearly label the post with the same title that you will use on your Periscope broadcast, and use hashtags to get more attention.

At the end of your broadcast, direct your viewers to visit your website, and make sure you have the website linked in your Periscope profile. This way, similar to video marketing on Youtube, your viewers get to view your product review with affiliate links after having watched your demonstration on your website.

Put your links in your Tweets

Using good old Twitter, you can also send tweets to notify your followers that you’re about to do a broadcast, and then you can also advise them to look for a link to the affiliate product in your latest tweets. Send out a tweet with a link in it, and use the same hashtags that you have used in your scope title and post title.

It might seem like you do need to put in quite a bit more effort to use Periscope effectively for affiliate marketing, but it has huge potential to be a very powerful tool once used correctly. At the end of the day, regardless of the social media used, it is just a medium where people can connect with you and need to build trust in you before they are willing to spend any money on your products.

Periscope as a platform allows you to share your knowledge of the products that they are looking for, and it will help you build your authority while you earning affiliate sales.
